2016 NBA Draft Profile: Ben Simmons

The most heralded player in this year’s draft, Ben Simmons was, by most accounts, the frontrunner for No. 1 pick at the beginning of the season. The Melbourne, Australia, native did plenty to back that up, becoming the only Division I player in the last 20 years to average at least 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. A former teammate of D’Angelo Russell’s at Montverde Academy in Florida, Simmons went on to lead the SEC in player efficiency rating (29.0) and rebounds (11.8) — the latter of which ranked seventh in the NCAA. Thought LSU finished just 19-14 and missed the NCAA Tournament, Simmons was nonetheless named a First Team All-American and the USBWA National Freshman of the Year.
