Chriss is expected to be a lottery pick.

In a 100-67 home win over Mount St. Mary’s on Nov. 19, Chriss finished with a game-high 29 points to go with 10 rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Chriss shot 11-for-18 from the field, 1-for-2 from the 3-point line and 6-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Chriss doesn’t turn 19 until July, so there is plenty of upside here. He’s quick, explosive and almost unbelievably athletic for his size. The dude can jump and is extremely light on his feet. He’s the prototypical NBA power forward when you consider the fact that he’s developed a nice jumper that extends to the 3-point line. He can also attack off the dribble. He has hands like a wide receiver in the pick-and-roll game.

He doesn’t have a great post game, yet. When he does get inside, he avoids contact and doesn’t look totally comfortable with his left hand. He’s not a great passer and really struggled on the defensive glass. He has all the tools to be a solid defender, but he had plenty of room to improve in his lone year at Washington. He’s also foul prone, getting fouled out of 15 of 34 games.

The word “upside” is tossed around left and right when it comes to the NBA Draft. And when it comes to upside, not many players have more of it than Chriss. For the direction the NBA is going, it looks like Chriss would fit perfect. He can shoot and he’s such an incredible athlete for a big guy. You almost get the feel he could be an NFL tight end if he really wanted to be. He’s 18 right now, so he’ll need time to develop, but I wouldn’t necessarily consider him a “project.” The kid has athleticism you can’t teach. That’s gotta be tempting for a lottery team.

Really think Marquese Chriss may very well end up being a top 5 pick when it’s all said and done. Too much to like – stroke, bounce, upside.

Marquese Chriss is really intriguing.

.@franfraschilla was on phone w/ us talking about Marquese Chriss. He just compared Chriss to Paul George. Not a bad guy to be compared to.
