Brown is expected to be a top-10 pick.
Brown played great on Nov. 27 against Richmond, finishing with a season-high 27 points, shooting 11-for-16 from the field and 5-for-7 from the free-throw line. He also added three rebounds.
The first thing that sticks out about Brown is that he’s got the body of an NBA wing as a 19 year old. He’s got hops, is very strong. Athleticism won’t be a problem at the next level. He’s very solid in transition, much to do with the strength. He has all of the tools to be a very, very good defender. Don’t be surprised if he makes an All-Defensive Team sometime in his career. He also has a knack for getting to the free-throw line.
He struggled shooting in his freshman season. That’s the biggest knock on him at this point in his career, but most scouts believe he could turn into an average or above-average shooter with time and some work on his mechanics. He doesn’t have great handles and will need to improve that at the next level.
Brown, projected to go somewhere in the top-10, said that he met with the Timberwolves and came out of the interview impressed with Thibodeau.
“Tom Thibodeau,” Brown said. “I feel like we’re on the same page. That’s a good guy. I know he used to be in Chicago, but he’s a good guy. I feel like we see eye to eye.”
Brown said he also thinks his game will translate better to the pros than it did college. He certainly has an NBA body.
You would have liked Brown to perform a little bit better during his freshman season, but the fact that he’s still considered a top-7 pick in the draft tells you how much potential he has. He has the body to be a very good NBA defender and if he can figure out his jump shot, watch out. Even if he can’t figure that out, he will still likely be a force on the defensive end who can score in transition.
@Kyle_Ratke has all the tools to be a great athletic wing defender. I think there’s a lot to like here. Could be a value role player.
@Kyle_Ratke High ceiling low floor type player, needs to work on his jumper but athletic and physically gifted to defend and get to the hoop
